Augusta Fishing Spots

Augusta is well worth a visit for any kind of angler, it offers great estuary, beach and offshore fishing spots. Located approximately 400km from Perth is does have some fishing pressure by Perth anglers, however there is still some great fishing spots in Augusta.

The large Hardy Inlet is fed by the Blackwood and Scott Rivers which are best fished from kayak or small boat. Hardy Inlet, Blackwood and Scott Rivers offer fantastic fishing for Black Bream, as well as whiting, Trevally (skippy) and Blue spotted flathead.

Flinders Bay in Augusta also offers some great fishing in protected waters, anglers do not have to go far offshore for some great reef fishing. Negotiating the bar crossing in a boat to Flinders Bay can be hazarderous and should only be attempted in good conditions. Once in the bay the best choice to catch fish is bottom jigging for Dhufish, Snapper, Samson Fish and Skippy.

Augusta has some great beach fishing spots and rock headlands that are well worth a fishing trip. A four wheel drive makes it easier to access some of the more remote fishing spots in Augusta.

Heading from Hardy Inlet towards Windy Harbour there are numerous tracks down to the beach that offer fantastic fishing at times. Along this stretch of beach a few creeks and rivers flow into the ocean attracting fish, this spots are great from late summer to autumn to target Australian Salmon.
