Boambee Creek is a small creek system just south of Coffs Harbour, it is a shallow estuary system however it is a picturesque spot to take the family fishing. There are several land based fishing spots to take the family or for the hardcore travelling angler to walk the creek bank casting lures along the rocks at the mouth. The rail bridge is a popular spot for Luderick and Bream and can be accessed via 4wd from the Gallows beach access to the north then drive down the beach a few kilometers, which is a great way to spend the day fishing Boambee Creek. Otherwise walk the bridge beside the railway tracks to access this spot.
The rocky shoreline along the creek mouth can be accessed from the southern side off First Ave. A walking track also goes near the railway bridge. Further upstream The Fred Hansen Bridge can be access by foot at the Boambee Creek boat ramp, fishing the bridge anglers can expect Bream and Flathead mostly.
Further upstream is limited and requires a small boat or Kayak, where anglers will be presented with a heap of snags for fish for Bream and Mangrove Jack. Launching a boat at Boambee boat ramp needs to be done closer to the top of the tide.
Fishing Boambee Creek the usual catches can be expected, Bream, Flathead, Whiting, Trevally and Mangrove Jack. Mangrove jack are best targeted in Summer especially when lure fishing, live bait will work in winter but youll have to be patient.
The headlands and beaches of Boambee and Sawtell have some good Tailor fishing in the gutters. There are also some great catches of Mulloway off the headland rock ledges and the beaches at times.
