Fishing the Brunswick River for bread and butter species it is best to fish light, 2-4kg spin setups will cover all the fish species like Bream, Flathead and Luderick, this is also a great setup for lures. Bait fishing, anglers can definitely fish a bit heavier to help left the fish off the rock walls.
More dedicated anglers targeting Mulloway and Mangrove Jack should look as heavier outfits around the 6kg+ area the Mangrove Jack will try to take your lure and bait back into heavy structure. The same weight is good the beach too, however you will require a longer rod, 6kg will cover most scenarios around here, unless you’re targeting mulloway, then a 10kg setup is preferred.
