Cape Le Grand is a beautiful National Park in Western Australia, approximately 631 km south-east of Perth and 56 km east of Esperance.
Rocking fishing at Cape Le Grand is very popular and most south-west species can be found here including Herring, Skippy, Bream and Whiting. Care must be taken when fishing the Cape Le Grand area; it is wise to only fish during calm sea conditions.
Cape Le Grand has some fantastic land based fishing spots including Hellfire Bay, Thistle Cove, Lucky Bay and Rossiter Bay.
Salmon fishing is good all year round with fish from 2-5kg regularly taken, however from November to February the Salmon fishing is even better and the average size is 5-8kg.
The Herring run follows after the Salmon run however Herrings are available all year around.
There are some fantastic fishings spots at Lucky Bay, the bay provides great fishing for land based fishermen, from the beach and rocks. Target species at Lucky Bay are Bream, Herring, Whiting and Flathead. Larger species can also be targeted from the beach and rocks, Salmon, Mulloway, Snapper, Samson Fish, Blue Groper and sharks are the main catches.
Lucky Bay also has a beach launch for small boat anglers giving access to some sheltered waters where Samson Fish, Queen Snapper, Groper, Leather Jackets and Skippy can be caught.
