Crocodile Creek is probably more productive than Alligator Creek, which is located just north. Crocodile Creek has some deeper holes, good structure and a rubble bottom. Fishing Crocodile Creek anglers will be rewarded with Barramundi, Grunter and the bread and butter species.
Crocodile Creek can produce good catches on the right tides. Favourite amongst Townsville locals, lure fishing here is great since the creek has plenty of structure, some great gutter country and open flats outside the mouth.
Fishing Crocodile Creek anglers should consider the same techniques used for North Queensland creek. Target Barramundi on low / run out tides with classic barra lures and soft plastics. The best places to find fish are around structure that is permanently underwater, most snags out of water during the low tide won’t be holding the fish at high tide, tide is your best bet. Look for structure sunken deep underwater 2-3m.
Please be aware of the weather if you decide to boat across the bay as afternoon sea breezes can make for an uncomfortable trip back.
Upstream Crocodile Creek fishes well for small Barramundi and Mangrove Jack.
