Deep Creek is located 450km north of Sydney and 6km north of Nambucca heads in the sleepy town of Hyland Park and Valla Beach. The area is a quiet tourist destination and Deep Creek has been banned from commercial fishing since 2002 which makes the creek a worthwhile spot to do some fishing. Deep creek is fairly shallow especially the creek mouth, with changing sand bars. Deep creek fishing spots are mainly limited to boat and kayak fishing via some rough boat ramps, there are limited land based fishing spots in Deep Creek.
The main land based fishing spots are the beach in front of Valla and towards the mouth of Deep Creek at the foot bridge. Here anglers can expect Flathead, Bream, Whiting and Luderick.
Launching a boat or kayak at either the Valla caravan park or further upstream off Deep Creek road mud ramp, anglers can target the following fish species.
What fish to catch in Deep Creek NSW?
From the boat or kayak Deep Creek has some heavy structure along the banks which is great habitat for Bream and Mangrove Jack. Lure fishing along the banks in summer can be a great way to hook these fish, although the average size is small.
