The mouth of Evans River is a popular gateway to fishing offshore from Evans Head, where are some fantastic fishing spots for Cobia, Snapper, Tuna and Pearl Perch.
In Evans River a 4-6kg spin outfit with braid and fluorocarbon leader will cover most fishing in Evans River. Bream are best targeted with a more finesse approach so the lighter the setup the better especially using lures. Small hard body lures work around jetties and any rocky structure. Flathead love pink soft plastics bounced off the bottom with lightly weighted jig heads.
Targeting Tailor anglers can use the same setup, tailor will take metal slugs around the 50-90g mark. If you are chasing Mulloway off the headlands or rock walls then a beefier setup around 12kg is ideal, live bait on a running ball sinker works well, however mulloway will also take soft plastics and even hard body lures in some circumstances.
Evans Head south break wall
