Where to go fishing near Hungry Head?

• Wenonah Head Four wheel drive onto the beach or park at the end of Schnapper Beach Road. This headland produces Bream, Snapper, Drummer, Tailor and Mulloway.
• North Beach Some good gutters are formed along North Beach which make great fishing for Bream, Tailor, Mulloway and Whiting. Four wheel drive access from Mylestom - permit required.
• Bundagen Head Accessed via Mylestom then four wheel drive up the beach. The headland and the beach pocket has some good fishing for Tailor, Drummer and Bream.
• Kalang bends Good structure and deep water provide some good bream fishing here at times.
• Newry Island Bridge Deep hole under the bridge along with the pylons provide good structure for Bream. The occasional mulloway and mangrove jack are caught here on live bait.
• Kalang drains These small drains and channels joining the main creek are a great place to fish for flathead on soft plastics on a falling tide.
• Kalang oyster leases The oysters are great structure to fish for Bream and Flathead on lures.
• Kalang Jews A deep hole near the bend and the mouth where the river splits has smaller Mulloway, Bream, Flathead and Mangrove Jack, live bait works best. Otherwise fish the start of a moving tide with soft plastics
• Kalang rockwall Luderick and bream all along the rock wall.
• Back creek mouth Fish here on a falling tide for some great flathead, upstream into back creek there is a small drain on the eastern side that is also work casting lures at for flathead. Bream around the creek mouth on the incoming tide.
• Kalang Rail bridge Good deep water here along with the pylons produce some good fishing, Bream, Mulloway, Flathead and the occasional Mangrove Jack. The road bridge is also a good spot to fish.
• Kalang Boat ramp A good spot to soak some bait with the family, picnic tables close by.
• Bellinger / Kalang Wall Along this rock wall can be productive for flathead and bream on the incoming tide as the water starts to run over the sandy flats.
• Bellinger dropoff As the tide falls the water runs off the flats through the channels along this sand bar, this can provide some good flathead fishing on soft plastics.
• Pacific Hwy Bridge Bream around the northern bank amongst the snags. Flathead at the mouth of the small channel to the south on a falling tide.
• Bellinger Bend Flathead and whiting amongst the weed beds, falling tide for Flathead.
• Raleigh Bridge Good structure and deep water, Bream, Flathead and Mangrove jack are caught here, live bait works best.
• Bellinger Rail Bridge Good deep water here and the pylons provide great shelter for Bream, Flathead, Mulloway and the occasional Mangrove Jack. Live baiting works best, but the patient angler will get fish on soft plastics.
• Bellinger Oyster Leases The oyster leases along are good fish holding structure, Bream and Flathead are common catches, popular amongst lure fishos.
• Mylestom Drain Fish here on a run out tide for flathead.
• Bellinger Tidal Pool A nice spot to soak a bait with the kids and go for a swim, here the common catches are bream, whiting and flathead.
• Back Creek There are a few good land based fishing spots along back creek, take Yellow Rock Rd, this spot fishes well for flathead on a falling tide. Further upstream the road comes close to the creek, this is a good spot on the incoming tide. Bait works best here, but lures will also work.
• Bellinger Northwall Some great luderick fishing along the northern break wall. Bream and Flathead are also around.
• Urunga Lagoon Flathead The lagoon can produce some good flathead amongst the weed beds on a falling tide, its well worth a look. Soft plastics work well here.
• Bellinger River Mouth The deep gutters close to the river mouth provide some good fishing, access via 4wd from Mylestom, here anglers can catch Mulloway, Bream and Tailor.
• Bellinger River breakwall Fish off the breakwall for Tailor on metal slugs. Mulloway on live baits or lures at dawn, dusk and night time. Bream and luderick also patrol along the rock wall, the bream can be thick during their annual spawn.
• Urunga Lagoon This is a great spot to pump for Yabbies.
