At the mouth of the Murchison River is Kalbarri. Known for its spectacular cliffs, famous surf break and gorgeous national park. Fishing at Kalbarri has something for everyone.
The Murchison River produces Black Bream, Whiting, Mulloway, Tailor and Mangrove Jack. The beaches of Kalbarri produce Mulloway, Skippy, Tailor and Whiting.
Kalbarri has fantastic rock fishing and anglers can be rewarded with Baldchin Groper, Pink Snapper, Red Throat Emperor and more. However caution needs to be taken when fishing from the rocks near Kalbarri as the waves can easily take anglers into rough waters.
South of Kalbarri Wagoe Beach can only be access by four wheel drive through the Wagoe Chalets campground. The fishing along the beaches here is fantastic. Anglers can expect Pink Snapper, Baldchin Groper, Mulloway and Tailor.
One of the few places along the Kalbarri cliffs where anglers can access rock platforms for fishing. Tailor, Baldchin Groper, Snapper and Mulloway are all caught here.
Great rock fishing for Tailor, Mulloway, Samson Fish and Pink Snapper. Bait is the easiest method. However keen anglers can target Tailor on poppers. Soft plastics for snapper and try the beach for Mulloway at dawn and dusk on large soft plastics.
A great place to target Tailor on poppers over the reef, dawn and dusk is the best time.
A safe fishing platform the river mouth attracts Mulloway, Whiting, Tailor and Silver Trevally. Cast big soft plastics out at dawn and dusk for the chance of a Mulloway.
The Murchison River has Black Bream, small Tailor, Mulloway and the odd Mangrove Jack. Jacks are best targeted in Summer.
Access for vehicles north of Kalbarri is prohibited. However kayakers and small tinnies can park and walk to the river mouth where Oyster Reef meets of the beach. The beaches here produce Mulloway and Tailor. Tailor can be targeted in the gaps in the reefs on poppers. Find breaks in the reef further north to target Mulloway.
Crossing the bar at the Murchison River mouth can be very hazardous and caution must be taken. Offshore of Kalbarri is prime fishing grounds for Pink Snapper, Dhufish, Emperor, Baldies, Spanish Mackerel, Tailor and Tuna.
Troll along the cliffs for Spanish Mackerel and Bluefin Tuna. Further out in deeper waters, sounding around to locate fish is fairly easy, jigging metals and soft plastics is the best was to land Pink Snapper and Dhufish.
