Lancelin is a small craw fishing community, only an hour from Perth. The beach at Lancelin is protected by an outer reef, which makes the fishing relatively calm. Summer breezes can be strong, although this is a good time to fish for Tailor on metal slugs. Beach launching a boat is also possible at Lancelin, which gives anglers access to some great reefs.

Lancelin Fishing

The main Lancelin fishing spot is the Lancelin jetty, which produces Whiting, Tailor, Herring, Flathead, Mulloway and small Yellowtail Kingfish. The jetty is best fished at dawn, dusk and night-time. At night try casting small to medium sized poppers for Tailor. Use medium sized soft plastics bounced along the bottom for Mulloway, although they are not to common here.

Throughout the day the beaches around Lancelin produce mainly whiting, Herring and Tailor. Dawn and dusk are a good time to target Tailor, back beach and to the north are good places to fish for tailor.

Howcroft Place

Good tailor fishing on metal slugs, poppers and shallow minnow lures.

Lancelin Back Beach

A good place to target Tailor at dawn and dusk, fish this spot with metal slugs, poppers and shallow minnow lures, retrieved quickly.

Offshore Lancelin

Beach launching a boat is possible at Lancelin, although the sand can be very soft at times. The weed can also cause issues which lines the beaches after strong on shore winds. Offshore from Lancelin anglers can target Mulloway, Tailor, Herring, King George Whiting and Skippy within the sheltered waters. Great care must be taken as waves break throughout the bay.

Further offshore on calm days, anglers can target Dhufish, Pink Snapper, Baldchin Groper, Yellowtail Kingfish, King George Whiting and during summer Spanish Mackerel. Bottom bouncing soft plastics is great for Dhufish, Baldchin and Snapper. Trolling medium depth diving works great for Spanish Mackerel.
