Ledge Point
Ledge Point is a small little cray fishing community only an hour’s drive north of Perth. A four wheel drive is handy to access the quieter fishing spot around Ledge Point.
The beaches produce mainly small Whiting, Herring and Tailor. Although the whiting are small there are generally lots of them. Try fishing early mornings with small poppers and shallow diving hard body lures for whiting along the beach.
Fishing ledge point can also be very productive for Tailor. Along the beaches on late summer afternoons when there is a seabreeze, is the best time to target Tailor on metal slugs and shallow diving minnow lures. Approximately 5km south of Ledge Point there is a reefy section of beach, which also fishes well for Tailor and the odd Mulloway.

Offshore Ledge Point
Launching a boat at Ledge Point is from the beach, the sand can be soft and there is often a lot weed so caution is advised. The reefs close to shore produce some great soft plastic fishing for Mulloway and Silver Trevally. Giant Herring and Tailor can also be found around the reefs, Tailor hang around the white wash of waves hitting the reefs.
Further offshore is even better, and produces some great fishing around the reefy patches for Pink Snapper, Samson Fish and Silver Trevally.
Where to go fishing near Ledge Point?
- South Ledge Point Good place to target Tailor at dawn and dusk over the reef patches. Use shallow diving minnow lures and metal slugs.
