The inlet produces okay fishing for Black Bream, Herring and Whiting. Lots of blue swim crabs during the warmer months, easily scooped up in a net.

Where to go fishing near Leschenault Inlet?

  • Bunbury Artificial Reef Drift or anchor on the reef and fish the bottom with soft plastics or metal slugs for Pink Snapper, Dhufish and Samson Fish.
  • Brunswick River Trout are found in the Brunswick River, exploration is the key to finding them. They will readily take small hard body minnow lures and flies.
  • Collie River Trout and Redfin The odd Trout and Redfin Bass upstream in the Collie River. Trout can be found holding in moving water and in eddies of a river flow, they will take small minnow hard body lures and flies. Best fished in a Kayak, exploration is the key to success.
  • Bunbury Port Beach Side Fish from the rock wharf for Tailor, Herring, Skippy, Tarwhine and the odd Australian Salmon during Autumn. Use metal slugs and 100m hard body minnows for Herring, Tailor and Australian Salmon, Tailor and Herring like a fast retrieve.
  • Bunbury Harbour The Bunbury Harbour is a fairly good land based fishing spot that produces Tailor and Mulloway. The Break-wall is the best fishing spot for targeting big Tailor and Mulloway. Inside the harbour the deep shipping channel can produce some big Mulloway particularly at night.
  • Collie River Bream & Mulloway Black Bream and the odd small Mulloway. Land based access through the back of Millbridge Estate.
  • Collie River Black Bream Black Bream near snags.

    Is there confusion between Leschanult inlet in Bunbury and Leschanult Estury a separate body of water that is mainly in Australind
