Hull River, Tully River and Murray River, these 3 river systems are quite similar in length and structure features, mangrove lined banks, structure, flats and feeder creeks. All Rivers have fresh water running into them more or less dependent on recent rains.

All 3 rivers hold good mud crabs, places to drop the pots are in and around smaller feeder creeks and shallow banks that are almost exposed at low tide.

The 3 rivers all fish well in summer for Mangrove Jack and Barramundi, Flathead all year round and Trevally, Queenfish and Salmon in winter.

Murray River Fishing

The deepest and possibly most productive of the 3 rivers, fishing the Murray River can be accessed from 2 boat ramps one on the southern half of the creek the other at Bedford Creek the main tributary on the northern side.

One Comment “Murray River”

  • Stephen Shave

    says:

It’s worth noting that access to the Murray from the Bluff Rd ramp is extremely difficult at low tide. The end of the dirt ramp drops off sharply, and is only suited to 4×4’s. Access is safest at mid to high tide. It’s not a place to get stuck.
