Just north of Port Macquarie north shore beach always has good gutters that are well worth fishing. Anglers can expect Bream, Tailor and Flathead. Mulloway are also a popular catch along here, strip mullet bait works well if you cannot get live bait.

Where to go fishing near North Shore Beach?

  • Korogoro Point Known as the spinning ledge, there is a path down to the rock platform, anglers can target game fish like Cobia, Mulloway, Tailor, Tuna, Spanish Mackerel and Kingfish.
  • Third Beach Bit of a walk in, however anglers can target Mulloway, Bream and Tailor off the rocks here.
  • Kemps Corner Bream, Tailor and Mulloway in the corner, this spot fishes best on a northerly wind as it is protected. Out off the rocks along the headland has some great Mulloway fishing, there is a access track off Connors Walking Track.
  • Killick Beach There are several 4wd access tracks onto Killick Beach. The gutters are constantly shifting, however find a good gutter and you can expect Bream, Dart, Tailor and Mulloway.
  • Killick Creek A shallow creek popular with swimmers, soak some back along the rock wall here for Bream, Flathead and Luderick.
  • Little Nobby Calm weather only, this spot has some good game fishing for Tuna, Mackerel, Tailor and Mulloway.
  • Racecourse Headland Some good ledges along this headland that fish well for Bream, Tailor, Mulloway and Luderick.
  • Delicate Nobby Fish around the rocks in the deeper channels on an incoming tide for Whiting and Bream. The beaches to the north and south are worth fishing if there are some good gutters around.
  • Big Hill There can be some good gutters around here, the northern pocket is good in a northerly wind. Bream, Tailor and Dart are all common catches along the beach and off the rocky headland.
  • Point Plomer Boat launching available from Point Plomer Campground. The headland is a popular spot for fishing for Bream, Tailor and Luderick.
  • Tacking Point Lighthouse Calm seas only, a popular spot for Tailor.
  • Middle Rock THere are some good deep gutters here because of the rocks, anglers can expect Bream, Tailor, Drummer and Mulloway.
  • Korogoro Creek A shallow creek but it does have Bream, Whiting, Flathead and the odd Mangrove Jack.
  • Telegraph Point Bream and bass from here upstream.
  • Southern Breakwall Towards the end of the break wall during calm weather anglers can target Bream, Tailor, Mulloway and Blackfish. Metal slugs work well for Tailor when they are running through the river mouth
  • Blackmans Point A good spot to launch a kayak or small boat to fish up into Maria River. The sandy flats has whiting, bream and flathead.Just inside Maria River to the east are some great sand flats that has yabby beds and fish well for whiting and flathead. Small channels drain into the river here and fish well for flathead.
  • Port Macquarie Northwall Bream, Luderick and Tailor a caught along the north wall. Mulloway can be caught here also best targeted a night. Fish the change of tide has the tide moves fast along here. Bring a metal slug for Tailor.
  • Coal Wharf Reserve A peaceful spot with picnic facilities, fish here with the family and use bait for Bream and Flathead mostly.
  • Cruise Terminal Wharfs This is a great spot to flick lures like hard bodies and soft plastics for Bream, walk along the path and cast towards the pylons and jetties. Fish from wharf with bait for Luderick, flathead and bream.
  • Port Macquarie Wharf Good structure here provides shelter for Bream, Luderick and Leatherjacket. This is a great spot to fish with the family.
  • Inside southern breakwall A popular spot for Blackfish when they are schooling up around the rock wall. Bream all year round. To the west just before the bend is a deep hole that produces some great Mulloway fishing, best on the incoming tide using live bait
  • Hastings River Yabbies Good yabbies beds along this sand bar as well as good whiting fishing on the shallow flats. Pump yabbies at low tide and fish for Whiting on the incoming tide.
  • Pelican Island Channel Oyster leases hold good bream and flathead, great place to cast lures. The run out tide has some good gutters, small channels and drop offs that fish well for Flathead.
  • Hastings River Canals The canals are a popular spot for lure castings to chase Bream all year round. Soft plastics cast beside pontoons will generally get bites from Bream.
  • Hastings River Flathead Any small creeks and channels that flow back into Hastings River on a run out tide are great spots to target Flathead.
  • Maria River Mulloway A popular spot for Mulloway, anchor up and fish with live bait.
  • Kings Point Flathead along the bank just upstream and at the oyster leases on a run out tide.
  • Limeburners Creek Mouth The weed beds and oyster leases around the creek mouth fish really well for Bream, Whiting and Flathead. Lures work well for Flathead and Bream, while yabbies are the best for whiting.
  • Big Bay oyster Leases Bream and flathead throughout the oyster leases, a great spot to lose a few lures.
  • Limeburners Creek A maze of oyster leases and weed beds, finding gaps in the weed beds on a run out tide then casting soft plastics hopped along the bottom guarantees Flathead. Bream are throughout the oyster structures, a rising tide can excite bream on surface lures around the weed beds.
  • Limeburners Hole Deep hole here and upstream at the bend produces Bream, Flathead and Luderick, bait is the best bet that these spots.
  • Dennis Bridge A deep hole here is a popular spot for Bream, Flathead and Mulloway. Best to use live bait when targeting big Mulloway here. Small channel upstream to the north has some flathead on a run out tide.
  • Smoky Beach Accessed by four wheel drive from South West Rocks, drive south or north along the beach looking for good deeper gutters, Bream, Dart, Tailor, Flathead and Mulloway are caught along this beach.
  • Pelican Island Yabby beds along the shallows and good whiting fishing along here up to Settlement Point.
  • Pelican Point A good spot for Luderick.
  • Back Beach Some great gutters here around the rocks fish well for Bream, Whiting, Luderick and Tailor.
