Located between Cape Arid and Cape Pasely Poison Creek in relatively sheltered in a bay and produces fantastic Salmon fishing. A 4WD is necessary to access the beach at Poison Creek, but once on the beach it is easy to travel along the hard pack sand looking for schools of Salmon, schools of fish and deep channels.
The Salmon fishing around Poison Creek is renowned as some of the best Salmon fishing in Australia, with fish often between the 4-6kg weight. Salmon can be caught around here most of the year, however Summer produces the beach fishing at Poison Creek for Salmon. Metal slugs, sinking stick baits and even poppers are all good methods to target the Salmon, they are also easily spotted in large schools travelling close to shore in the deeper gutters.
Poison Creek fishing also produces Skippy, Tailor, Herring, Mulloway and large sharks particularly when the Salmon are around. Night fishing with vibes is a great way to target Mulloway and Herring.
Salmon fishing is good all year round with fish from 2-5kg regularly taken, however from November to February the Salmon fishing is even better and the average size is 5-8kg.
The Herring run follows after the Salmon run however Herrings are available all year around.
