Seabird is a small craw fishing community about 2hours north of Perth. Seabird fishing spots are focused around the beach near close inshore reefs. The main targets are Tailor, Whiting and the odd Mulloway.
Fishing for tailor is best done during early morning and late afternoon into night. There are numerous 4wd tracks both north and south of Seabird that lead to some potentially good fishing spots. Look for close inshore reefs and isolated reef patches. Tailor will take metal slugs, shallow hard body minnows and surface popper lures. A light sea breeze is also great when targeting Tailor. The surface ripples give tailor an advantage when chasing bait fish.
Mulloway are also taken around Seabird beaches. Spinning for Mulloway is best done dawn, dusk and at night. Look for ledges with waves breaking on top creating foamy waters as the Mulloway will often lay in behind the ledge to conserve energy. Also when fishing for Mulloway on lures from the beach, water depth only needs to be 1-3m deep. Shallow diving hard body lures that swim only 1-3ft deep with a slow retrieve is effective.
