Dhufish Glaucosoma hebraicum
Found from Shark Bay to Esperance in Western Australia, Dhufish love to hang out near structure, reefs and caves anywhere from 5-100m deep water.
The West Australian Dhufish can grow to more than 1m in length and weigh more than 25 kg
Dhuies are mostly caught in deeper waters however can be found over sandy or flat coral bottoms during the breeding season (December- March) in waters only 3m deep.
Dhufish will readily take lures as long as they are worked properly by bottom jigging with jigs or soft plastics, a natural bait presentation is key to success. Dropping a plastic to the bottom, slow jigging and slow drifting (0.2knts) over potential spots is the most effective approach to catching Dhufish.
