Long nose Emperor's can be found from Exmouth to Cairns in tropical water and are encountered while bottom jigging or close inshore near structure and even sand flats. Emperor will readily take soft plastic's and jigs while fishing the bottom. Inshore they can be caught on poppers and soft plastics.
