Spangled Emperor Lethrinus nebulosus

Spangled Emperor can grow up to 80cm and 8 kg in weight, common sizes are around 40-50cm. They can live for more than 30 years!

Spangled Emperor are reef species that prefer shallow coral reefs, seagrass beds and even deep rocky reefs up to 200 m deep. Spangled emperor are a fantastic sport fish and will put up a good fight for their weight, often a challenging opponent on light tackle around rocks and in shallow coral lagoons.

Emperors will readily take soft plastics and jigs from the bottom in deep water. However if the environment, tide and conditions are right emperors can be found in shallow waters feeding while the tides runs out, here you can target them on poppers, stick baits and sinking stick bait lures.
